Let's ask ourselves a question today. Would we believe that God, who called us to Himself and equipped us with His Spirit, could work mightily through us? Many of us will say, yes, we believe that. Okay, have we made the connection between the time and place in which we live, and God's call upon us? Ah! There's a good question! You know, world events never catch God by surprise. And, you might not believe this, but He placed you precisely where you are for a purpose. Daniel is a very good example of someone who believed God, and allowed God to use him to make a difference.
"But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king's delicacies." Daniel 1:8.
Daniel did not let the temptations of his day interfere with his relationship to God. He knew that to make his life useful to God, he needed to obedient, not in some things, but in all things. That is the problem with many Christians today. We like the good parts of God's Word that speak to us and make us feel good, but we dislike the parts that make us feel uncomfortable, so we ignore them or toss them away. The Bible wasn't given to us to make us feel good, it was given to convict us and show us how far from God we are, and then to help lead us back to Him. If more Christians would except ALL God's Word, the world would look very different from what it is today. Take Daniel for example, he chose to believe God's Word, and regardless of what the most powerful king in the world commanded, Daniel refused to compromise what he knew God required of him.
History is full of examples of Christian men and women who believed that God would work through them to make a significant difference for His kingdom. God placed Ester strategically in the king's court at a crucial time when she could save the lives of God's people, God placed Joseph to become the most powerful adviser to the pharaoh in Egypt and to save Jacob and his family from a devastating drought.
We need to ask ourselves, are we allowing our surroundings to determine how we invest our lives? Are we allowing the penetrating Word of God to build our faith and trust, and helping us to become obedient to God in all things? Are we letting God use us to make a difference in our generation? Ask God to reveal His purposes for you and His will for your life today. Watch how God will use you and your life to make a difference for His glory!! Daniel did, will you?
May God richly bless you today!! H Trent!
