As we come to the end of our week, it is fitting the we recognize that we have been learning how our attitude should be to others around us. We should have the same mind, the same heart, the same love for people around us, as our Lord Jesus Christ has. Although some will say, we are not Jesus, we are still endowed with the indwelling of the Holy Spirit if we are the believers we say we are. It is through the Spirit that we forgive others, that we show brotherly love to others, and that we bear each others burdens. Consider:
"Bear one another's burdens, and so fullfill the law of Christ." Galatians 6:2
"But God has combined the members of the body and has given greater honor to the parts that lacked it, so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other. If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it. Now you are the body of Christ, and each one one of you is a part of it." 1 Corinthians 12:24b-27
When God places people in your life who are in need, He is completely aware of what they lack, and He absolutely knows He has given you the resources to meet those needs. You know, God does nothing by accident. When someone in need surfaces in your life, immediately go to the Father and say, "You put me in this person's life for a reason. You knew this was going to happen. What do you intend to do through me that will help this person become closer to You?"
Friends, recognizing a need in someone's life can be one of the greatest invitations from God that you will ever experience. It's very easy to become frustrated by the problems of others. They can overwhelm you as you become aware of need after need. But, rather than seeing each new problem as one more drain on your time, energy, or finances, try asking God why He placed you in this situation. Allow God to help you see beyond the needs they have, and see the things He wants to accomplish in their lives, by using you do it. Don't miss God's activity because you are reluctant to carry the load of others.
Here's another thought, is God blessing you materially? It might be that He is developing a "supply depot" in your life through which He can provide for others. Has God blessed you with a strong, healthy family life? Maybe He needs a home such as yours to minister to the so many hurting families around us. Has God freed you from sinful habits? Has God's peace comforted you in a time of great suffering and tragedy? Has God miraculously provided for your needs? There are so many questions we can ask about our own life to help us see what God has given to us that can be used by God to help others in need. We are all ministers in one way or another, and that is intentional by God. Think on this, it is very possible that God has been purposefully building things into your life so that you can now be the kind of person who will carry the burdens of others. You don't know? Ask God today! And then when He shows you, ask Him to bring someone into your life you can help, if there isn't already somebody in need there now!
May God richly bless you today!! H Trent!
