Continuing To Sin!!!

Many of us, even after coming to Jesus, continue to struggle with sin in our life. We allow the things of this world to have control over us. We give in to temptations too easily. But, the Bible teaches us that a Christian has died to sin. Before we were Christians we were very susceptible to sin. Sin held us in its grip. Did you know that even though temptation can present itself persistently, a corpse will not succumb? The Bible says that when we became Christians, our old self died. That means that sin now has no more control over us than temptation has over a corpse. We have died to sin. We can still sin, but we are no longer in sin's power! SO why is it that so many of us continue to sin? It is because we allow sin to have power over us even though we have been freed from its grasp. When we choose to succumb to temptation, we are rejecting the freedom from sin that Christ gained for you by His death.

"What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By no means! We died to sin; how can we live in it any longer? Or don't you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? We were therefore buried with Him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may have a new life." Romans 6:1-4.

God's grace to us should be further motivation for us to resist sin! Many of us forget that it was God's grace that enabled Jesus to endure the mocking, beating, and crucifixion at the hands of those that He had come to save. Grace is what led God to forgive our sin despite our rebellion against Him. And, it is that same grace that God shows us every time we go on sinning against Him. However, if we know this grace, we cannot continue to practice sin! We cannot presume upon God's forgiveness by committing further offenses. God's forgiveness is not a key or permission to go on sinning. If, as Christians, we continue to go on sinning the same or worse sins than when we came to Jesus, we really need to ask if we really gave our hearts, our life over to Christ!

Friends, in Christ we are no longer the helpless victims of sin! The victory has already been won over sin by Jesus. God does not have to win a victory over our sin; He has already won! What we need to do is apply His victory to each area of our life! We need to confess Christ over our life, daily! We plead the blood of Christ over each and every plan, purpose, or desire in our life, knowing that it is by His blood we are saved and freed from the bondage of sin! When the enemy unrolls the scroll that says guilty, guilty, guilty, we only need to further unroll it to the place it says: Paid in full by the blood of Christ!

If there is a sinful habit, an ungodly attitude, or an unrighteous relationship that we need to put to death, friends--claim the victory of Jesus' resurrection over your life today! Only He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life! Only with Him and through Him will any of us be free of the burden and bondage of sin! Only when we claim the victory over our life will we be free to experience the abundant life that God intends for us!

May God Richly Bless You Today!! H Trent!

We Are Royal Priests!!!

If you are a Christian, you are a priest, chosen by God. As members of the royal priesthood we have constant access to the King. If there is ever a need in our life, we don't have to find an intermediary or enlist another priest in order to gain a hearing from the King. Our position as royal priests allows us direct access. This privilege describes our position as a priest. "But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light." 1 Peter 2:9. We need to also understand that priests also have a function. It is the responsibility of a priest to work within a priesthood. Scripture does not promote the practice of individual priests, each with a separate ministry. Priests are supposed to function together. (Lev. 9:1). An unbiblical sense of individualism can isolate us from functioning within God's royal priesthood as He intend...

Thinking About Calling Down Fire!?!

James and John were refered to as "the Sons of Thunder" in the Bible. When they discovered a Samaritan village that would not receive Jesus, they were fully prepared to call down fire to consume the entire community. "And when His disciples James and John saw this, they said, "Lord, do You want us to command fire to come down from heaven and consume them, just as Elijah did?" Luke 9:54. Maybe they felt that through such a show of power, the gospel message might be enhanced. The two brothers were willing to sacrifice the lives of the village in order to further the cause of the gospel. However, Jesus rebuked them! Later, the apostles heard that Samaria had responded to the gospel. Guess who was commissioned to go and help them receive the Holy Spirit? None other but Peter and John! It was God's purpose that the people not be destroyed but saved! God chose not to rain down fire on the village, but to shower it with His Holy Spirit! I wonder what w...

To Give or Not To Give!

As a society in today's world, we are taught that money is everything.  We will spend 3/4 of our lives amassing money and things to make us comfortable for the last part of our lives. The Bible teaches us that, "Money is the root of all kinds of evil." 1 Timothy 6:10 NKJV.  It does not say that money it's self is evil, but that it can lead to evil. There is nothing wrong with having vast amounts of money, the question is, where is the heart in great fortune?  Where is the heart with little fortune? Today I want us to visit a passage of scripture that deals with fortune and where the heart is:   "Will a man rob God? Yet you have robbed Me! But you say, 'In what way have we robbed You?' In tithes and offerings.   You are cursed with a curse, For you have robbed Me, Even this whole nation.   Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, That there may be food in My house, And try Me now in this," Says the LORD of hosts, "If I will not open for you ...
