Do Not Judge!!!

Some of us do not know that there is a significant difference between judgment and discernment. God sees people hearts and knows their motives. Only God can accurately judge those who deserve punishment. Ultimately, Christ will sit in judgment upon us all in the day of judgment.

"Judge not, and you shall not be judged. Condemn not, and you shall not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven." Luke 6:37.

Our problem is that we like to sit in the judgment seat and pronounce condemnation upon those whom we think have sinned. Scripture commands us not to judge or condemn others, for we cannot be judgmental and redemptive at the same time. It can be very difficult to pray sincerely for someone while we are judging them. At times our judgmental attitude can seem to provide us an excuse not to become involved in God's redemptive work in someone's life. God reminds us through His Word that He will treat us with the same grace or severity with which we treat others.

God commands us not to judge others, however, He does want us discerning. Jesus said that we would know people's spiritual condition by the fruit of their lives. He said grapes are not produced by thorn bushes. If a person's life produces thorns, we can assume that person is not a grapevine! Are we being judgmental? No, we are being discerning. Scripture commands us to avoid associating with scoffers or fools. Unless we are able to identify scoffers and fools, we cannot obey God's commands. This is not being judgmental, this is being discerning. As Christians, we have been instructed to observe the lives of others so that we can help them while avoiding any sinful influence.

Friends, we will only be helpful to others if we see them as God sees them. If we have been judgmental of others, ask forgiveness and pledge to let God us as His ministers of reconciliation.

May God Richly Bless You Today!! H Trent!

We Are Royal Priests!!!

If you are a Christian, you are a priest, chosen by God. As members of the royal priesthood we have constant access to the King. If there is ever a need in our life, we don't have to find an intermediary or enlist another priest in order to gain a hearing from the King. Our position as royal priests allows us direct access. This privilege describes our position as a priest. "But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light." 1 Peter 2:9. We need to also understand that priests also have a function. It is the responsibility of a priest to work within a priesthood. Scripture does not promote the practice of individual priests, each with a separate ministry. Priests are supposed to function together. (Lev. 9:1). An unbiblical sense of individualism can isolate us from functioning within God's royal priesthood as He intend...

Thinking About Calling Down Fire!?!

James and John were refered to as "the Sons of Thunder" in the Bible. When they discovered a Samaritan village that would not receive Jesus, they were fully prepared to call down fire to consume the entire community. "And when His disciples James and John saw this, they said, "Lord, do You want us to command fire to come down from heaven and consume them, just as Elijah did?" Luke 9:54. Maybe they felt that through such a show of power, the gospel message might be enhanced. The two brothers were willing to sacrifice the lives of the village in order to further the cause of the gospel. However, Jesus rebuked them! Later, the apostles heard that Samaria had responded to the gospel. Guess who was commissioned to go and help them receive the Holy Spirit? None other but Peter and John! It was God's purpose that the people not be destroyed but saved! God chose not to rain down fire on the village, but to shower it with His Holy Spirit! I wonder what w...

Our Spiritual Preparation!!!

This weekend I had the pleasure of having a study lesson with an incredible teacher! She was very wise and had an incredible anointing of the Spirit upon her. One of the things that stuck with me was when she was talking about how important it is to be in God's Word and how there was a time when she couldn't sleep past 2:30 in the morning that she found herself praying deeply and pouring through God's Word in ways she had never done before. It was only later, after her husband was diagnosed with terminal cancer, that she realized that the Lord had been preparing her spirit for the trial that lay ahead. That is the key today! There is no substitute for spiritual preparation! Had she not prepared herself through God and His word, she wouldn't have had near the courage or strength to go through what lay before her. Spiritual preparation equips us for unforeseen crises or opportunities. However, if we are unprepared spiritually, we will be vulnerable to life's unexpecte...
