Delivered Into Your Hand!!!

Did you know that no greater confidence will ever come to you or to any other Christian than the confidence of knowing that you are doing God's will? Our Lord will not commission us to do anything without ensuring our success. God assured Joshua that there was no reason to fear as he prepared to battle the Canaanites. God would allow the Israelites to fight the battle, but the outcome was settled before they ever picked up their weapons. Can you imagine the confidence this gave them as they fought? Even though their enemies fought relentlessly, Joshua's army was certain of eventual victory!

"And the Lord said to Joshua, "Do not fear them, for I have delivered them into your hand; not a man of them shall stand before you." Joshua 10:8

God does not promise us victory in every task we devise, but He does promise us that we will be successful whenever we follow His will! (Deut. 28:7,25). Let me ask us a question: Does it appear that people are keeping us from obeying God's will? Well, the answer is that we must rest assured that God will not allow anyone or anything to prevent His children from accomplishing His purposes!

What we must do is to be careful to evaluate success in the way that God does. Perhaps He is working to produce His peace in our heart as we face troubling times. Perhaps He is working to develop a forgiving spirit in us when others mistreat us. Perhaps He is working to eliminate a particular sin in our life. Whatever the perhaps is, if we accept the world's understanding of victory, we might feel defeated. If we look to see what God is accomplishing through our situation, we would probably find that God is succeeding. When we face opposition, but know that we are doing what God has asked us to do, we need to have confidence that God will accomplish everything He desires!

James and John were refered to as "the Sons of Thunder" in the Bible. When they discovered a Samaritan village that would not receive Jesus, they were fully prepared to call down fire to consume the entire community. Maybe they felt that through such a show of power, the gospel message might be enhanced. Restoration From Our Shepherd!!!

These are very trying times we live in today. Things are happening around us so fast that it is sometimes difficult to know where to go or where to turn. We can easily become stressed and weary of doing the same old grind, day after day, uncertain about what is lying just around the next corner. Well, our Shepherd knows!! He knows our every need, our every hurt, our every pain. He knows that we will grow weary in our pilgrimage with Him as well. He knows that there are times when we need to rest. Our Shepherd also knows what we need to be refreshed. At times, we do need to lie in lush meadows or beside quiet streams. Sometimes we need to be held by our Shepherd. At other times we need to enjoy the pleasures the Shepherd provides. And, our Shepherd will not always replenish us the same way; His response to us will always correspond to our present need, if we will ask Him. Easter Sunday! “I Know That My Redeemer Lives!” Scripture: Job 1,2,13,19:25-26,23 Introduction: You may never have heard of Robert King Merton, the Columbia University sociologist who died in 2003, but I will bet that you have heard some of the phrases he coined like, self-fulfilling prophecy, and unintended consequences.
