Merry Christmas!!!

  What goes through our minds at this time of the year?  Are we concerned and worried about financial and material stuff?  I thought that it would be appropriate to list what should be on our minds at this time of year!

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." John 3:16 KJV

"Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; He is Christ the Lord." Luke 2:11 NIV.

"The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us.  We have seen His glory, the glory of the One and Only who came from the Father, full of grace and truth." John 1:14 NIV.

"For our sake He made Him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God." 2 Corinthians 5:21 ESV.

"Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death." Romans 8:1-2 NIV.

"He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation." Colossians 1:15 NIV.

"If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also.  From now on you do know Him and have seen Him." John 14:7 ESV.

Thinking About Calling Down Fire!?!

James and John were refered to as "the Sons of Thunder" in the Bible. When they discovered a Samaritan village that would not receive Jesus, they were fully prepared to call down fire to consume the entire community. "And when His disciples James and John saw this, they said, "Lord, do You want us to command fire to come down from heaven and consume them, just as Elijah did?" Luke 9:54. Maybe they felt that through such a show of power, the gospel message might be enhanced. The two brothers were willing to sacrifice the lives of the village in order to further the cause of the gospel. However, Jesus rebuked them! Into A Storm!!!

There are many believers today that think that because they are in Christ, they are free from trials and tribulations. Life will always be good. However, there are going to be times when storms will come to us. Some of those storms will be the result of the choices we have made, some of them will come as a result of attacks by others, some will come for reasons we don't understand, but some storms will come because Jesus has sent us into them. Consider our passage today: "Immediately Jesus made the disciples get into the boat and go on ahead of Him to the other side, while He dismissed the crowd. After He had dismissed them, He went up on a mountainside by Himself to pray. When evening came, He was there alone, but the boat was already a considerable distance from land, buffeted by the waves because the wind was against it." Mastership of Christ!!!

  Many of us believers confess Jesus as our Savior, and many of us confess Jesus as our Lord.  But, how many of us can confess that Jesus is our Master?  Let's take a look at what each confession means:  When we say that Jesus is our Savior, according to Webster's dictionary, what we are saying is Jesus is our Rescuer--somebody who rescues somebody or something from harm or danger.  When we say that Jesus is our Lord, according to Webster's dictionary, what we are saying is that Jesus is our Powerful Person--someone who has considerable power or influence over others.  But, what are we saying if we can say that Jesus is our Master?  According to Webster's dictionary, Master-- Boss, a person in a position of authority over a business or servants.  How many of us have made Jesus our Master?
