Pure or Defiled!?!

Do you know that our heart's condition will be expressed through our life? It will be evident by our attitudes, our words, and our behavior. Jesus said that you can clearly see others only when our own eyes are unobstructed. If our vision is hindered by sin, we will not look at others.

"To the pure all things are pure, but to those who are defiled and unbelieving nothing is pure; but even their mind and conscience are defiled." Titus 1:15.

If our heart is pure, we will approach life without malice. We will not question the motives or everyone around us. We will not doubt the truth of everything others tell us. We will not look for faults in others. Instead, we will look for the good in others, finding what is praiseworthy. We won't be naive or gullible, but we will seek what is good rather than what is evil. If our heart is pure, we will see others the way God sees them.

However, if our hearts are defiled, everything in which we are involved with will seem defiled as well. We will assume evil motives in others because we will know what we would do in the same circumstances. We will be cynical about what we hear because our own words are deceitful. We will be drawn to evil people and evil things.

Question: How do we look at the words and actions of others? Are we critical of them? Are we judgmental? If we answer yes to these questions, our heart has been defiled and we need to ask God to purify us. This starts with confession and repentance! Ask God to bring us back to the truth of His Word and give us a clean heart and a clean mind. Once He has, we will be free to see our self and others as God does.

May God Richly Bless You Today!! H Trent!

We Are Royal Priests!!!

If you are a Christian, you are a priest, chosen by God. As members of the royal priesthood we have constant access to the King. If there is ever a need in our life, we don't have to find an intermediary or enlist another priest in order to gain a hearing from the King. Our position as royal priests allows us direct access. This privilege describes our position as a priest. "But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light." 1 Peter 2:9. We need to also understand that priests also have a function. It is the responsibility of a priest to work within a priesthood. Scripture does not promote the practice of individual priests, each with a separate ministry. Priests are supposed to function together. (Lev. 9:1). An unbiblical sense of individualism can isolate us from functioning within God's royal priesthood as He intend...

Follow Christ!!!

Have you ever taken anything for granted? If you are like the rest of us, your answer will be yes. There are a lot of things that we end up taking for granted, especially in our relationships. One of the things we can take for granted is God's presence in our lives. We might even assume that because Jesus said He would be with us always, He will follow us wherever we go. However, we need to realize that Jesus does not follow us; we are to follow Him. "Then Jesus said to His disciples, "If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me." Matthew 16:24 We don't invite God to join us in our activity. He invites us to become involved in His activity. Jesus said: "You did not choose Me, but I chose you." (John 15:16). Following Jesus requires absolute obedience. He does not seek our counsel about which direction we think is best to go. God already knows what is best without ever having to consult ...

Thinking About Calling Down Fire!?!

James and John were refered to as "the Sons of Thunder" in the Bible. When they discovered a Samaritan village that would not receive Jesus, they were fully prepared to call down fire to consume the entire community. "And when His disciples James and John saw this, they said, "Lord, do You want us to command fire to come down from heaven and consume them, just as Elijah did?" Luke 9:54. Maybe they felt that through such a show of power, the gospel message might be enhanced. The two brothers were willing to sacrifice the lives of the village in order to further the cause of the gospel. However, Jesus rebuked them! Later, the apostles heard that Samaria had responded to the gospel. Guess who was commissioned to go and help them receive the Holy Spirit? None other but Peter and John! It was God's purpose that the people not be destroyed but saved! God chose not to rain down fire on the village, but to shower it with His Holy Spirit! I wonder what w...
